Compatibility: Now and in the Future

As Cochlear’s Baha Sound Processors are already compatible with Oticon Medical (OM)’s Ponto™ acoustic implants,2 we will still be able to offer Cochlear’s technology to those customers into the future where we have regulatory approval to do so. Our research and development team are focused on offering the best hearing possible today – while also anticipating how technology and your needs will change over time. We strive to be there now, and always.

If you are eligible for an upgrade through insurance or self-pay, you can use this as an opportunity to explore if the Baha System is right for you. Cochlear is proud to offer quality products and offers a standard 2-year global warranty for the Baha 6 Max Sound Processor, plus a 1-year warranty plan for wireless accessories. Additional extended warranty service plans are available for purchase.

Q: Can I upgrade from a Ponto device to a Baha 6 Max Sound Processor?

A: Yes! Ponto System abutments are compatible with the Baha 6 Max Sound Processor.21

Q: Can I try the Baha 6 Max Sound Processor before I commit?

A: Consult your hearing health professional to determine if they have a demo device in the clinic. Otherwise, we currently do not have any try-before-you buy events scheduled.

Q: If I’ve always used a Ponto sound processor, will my hearing be different with the Baha 6 Max Sound Processor?

A: Each model of sound processor is a bit different. The Baha 6 Max Sound Processor helps provide clear, rich and natural sound222324 The Baha 6 Max Sound Processor features dual microphones that may make it easier to localize sound so you can focus in noisy situations. Using SmartSound® iQ technology, the Baha 6 Max Sound Processor will automatically make adjustments to optimize your hearing experience. The sound processor actively works to reduce unwanted noise around you — from busy restaurants and hectic spaces to crowded venues — so you can focus on the conversations that matter.

Q: What if I try the device and don’t like it?

A: Cochlear offers a 90-day trial period for sound processor upgrades. During the 90 days, a recipient can return or exchange open or unopened upgrade kits for the same or newer generation processor and processor components. Individual accessories or components are not available for return.

Q: Will Cochlear honor global and supplemental warranties for recipients who use their Baha 6 Max Sound Processor with a Ponto Implant?

A: We recognize there are circumstances that require Cochlear to be flexible on our policy. We maintain the right to adjust the warranty at our sole discretion. We stand behind our products and are proud to offer a standard 2-year global warranty for the compatible Baha 6 Max Sound Processor.
