Cochlear processors are designed to stay secure in everyday activities. If you’re having problems keeping your processor on your head, you may want to speak with your hearing professional about increasing your magnet strength, or addressing other factors that may be contributing to the problem.

That being said, there may be times when you need a little extra security for your processor, such as when you’re participating in sports or physical activities. Your needs will depend on your lifestyle, but there are plenty of retention options available to give you peace of mind about your processor:

For Nucleus® 6 recipients

The Snugfit helps to tighten the sound processor on the ear for added security during activities. The accessory comes in three sizes and its two hooks, made out of a flexible material, can be easily adjusted to fit comfortably and tightly around your ear.

The Mic Lock extends Cochlear’s commitment to comfortable and secure retention technology. More discreet than ever, the Mic Lock is a lightweight, transparent plastic tube designed to shape around the contours of your ear and firmly secure your processor.

The third option, Litewear™, provides more comfort and less weight by allowing you to wear only the processor around your ear and securely attach the standard battery module to your body. It’s great for children or anyone who is looking to reduce sound processor weight on their ear. Pictured below is the Litewear Case.

For Nucleus Kanso® recipients

The long safety line reduces the risk of losing your sound processor by allowing you to secure one end to your processor and the other end to your clothing. If your processor does fall, the safety line will catch it and prevent it from being damaged or lost.

The short safety line serves a similar purpose, but features a shorter safety line attached to a hair clip (available in three colors).

The Cochlear headband is perfect for securing the Kanso Sound Processor during physical activities where the sound processor is at risk of falling off. It comes in five sizes and five colors, so you can personalize it for a comfortable and attractive fit. It’s also compatible with the Aqua+, so you can hit the beach or pool without worrying about losing your processor to the waves.

For Baha® 5 recipients

Use the Baha safety line to secure your processor to your clothing and prevent it from being damaged or lost during sports or physical activities. Cochlear recommends that children use the safety line at all times.
