Learn how Joyful Life Cochlear Implant Fund (JLCIF) strives to optimize the hearing experience and lives of cochlear implant recipients by providing confidence coaching and product support.
Angela started losing her hearing in first grade. Growing up in a tiny South Dakota farm community, she didn’t know anyone else with hearing loss, and often felt embarrassed and ashamed. After struggling with hearing aids and lip-reading, her life changed when she received her first Cochlear™ Nucleus® 24 Implant almost 24 years ago, and her second six year later. She has since upgraded her sound processors to the Nucleus 7 Sound Processors. Angela works as a life coach and loves how easy the direct connectivity makes it to communicate with her clients across the globe throughout the day.
After the COVID-19 pandemic started, Angela realized there were people struggling economically to afford replacement parts for their sound processors and struggling emotionally with isolation. That’s when she became the Founder and Executive Director of Joyful Life Cochlear Implant Fund.
Giving the gift of hearing
Joyful Life Cochlear Implant Fund (JLCIF) provides two areas of support – cochlear implant product support and confidence coaching.
We strive to optimize the hearing experience and lives of cochlear implant recipients by providing confidence coaching and product support that enables them to thrive.- JLCIF Mission
Cochlear implant product support
JLCIF is committed to ensuring existing cochlear implant recipients have functioning equipment and continue to hear. They provide replacement external equipment that is critical to remain with sound such as batteries, cable coils and refurbished sound processors to approved cochlear implant applicants.
The JLCIF does not cover the cost of cochlear implant surgery. It is important to note that hearing implants, upgrades and medically necessary parts and accessories are generally covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most commercial health plans1.
Confidence coaching
JLCIF is committed to the emotional well-being of cochlear implant recipients. Confidence coaching helps anyone who is struggling due to their lack of self-esteem, shyness, limiting beliefs and fear. Confidence coaching can help you take tangible action steps to improve self-acceptance and empower you to achieve your full potential in all areas of your life.
Angela is dedicated to ensuring cochlear implant recipients have all the support they need to thrive.
